License terms

These terms govern how you may use Proberaum and the audio plugins by Ruhrpott Guitars (together “the software”) – as a trial and with a purchased license. The licensor is Ruhrpott Guitars (owner and address: see the legal notice), referred to below as “I”. Purchases are also subject to the terms and conditions.

1. Trial

You may download all software free of charge and try it for 14 days with all features, for private or professional use. After that it keeps running as a demo: roughly once a minute the signal goes briefly silent (also when bouncing). Your DAW projects still open, and your settings are kept. A license removes the restriction.

2. What a license allows

  • You receive a non-exclusive, perpetual right to install and use the software you purchased. The software itself remains my property (copyright); you are buying the right to use it.
  • The license may be activated on up to five computers at the same time, Mac and Windows counted together. These must be computers you use yourself – for a business: computers within that business.
  • You may use the software privately and professionally, including paid productions, live gigs and teaching. What you record and produce with it belongs to you. There are no further fees, and you don’t have to credit the software anywhere.
  • The license covers the products you purchased. A bundle contains all plugins available at the time of purchase; plugins released later are not included automatically. Doppelspur and Überholspur as well as Kaleidoskop and Kaleidoskop Prisma are only sold together and count as one product each.
  • Updates: All updates within a major version are included (for version 1: 1.1, 1.2 …). For a new major version (2.0) I may charge an upgrade price. Updates I am legally required to provide so that the software stays in conformity with the contract (Section 327f German Civil Code) are always free.

3. Activation and computers

  • After your purchase you receive a license key. You use it to activate in the software (“Activate”). One key covers everything you purchased under your email address.
  • When activating, the software sends your license key, a machine code (derived from an identifier of your computer), the system (Mac or Windows) and the computer’s name to the shop. After that the software checks the license on your computer and keeps running without internet indefinitely. Occasionally (at most every 30 days) it quietly checks whether the license is still valid; if that fails, it keeps running anyway.
  • For computers without internet there is a way via the customer area (license file).
  • You can sign out a computer at any time – in the software (“Sign out this computer…”) or in the customer area. The slot is then free again.
  • Please keep your license key to yourself. Anyone who knows it can activate computers with it.

4. What is not allowed

  • Passing on or publishing license keys or license files (except when transferring the whole license under no. 5).
  • Circumventing, disabling or modifying the license check or the demo restriction.
  • Renting, lending or otherwise making the software available to others, including as an online service.
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling or modifying the software – except where the law expressly permits it (Sections 69d and 69e of the German Copyright Act).
  • Offering the installation files for download on other websites. Linking to the shop is very welcome.

5. Transferring your license

You may permanently transfer your license as a whole to another person, for example by selling it or giving it away. It then includes all products under your license key. Here’s how: sign out all computers and write to me (your email address and that of the new owner). I will transfer the license to the new person; your right of use ends, and you delete the software on your computers.

6. Refunds, chargebacks and misuse

  • If a purchase is refunded or charged back via PayPal, the products concerned are removed from your license.
  • In case of a serious breach of these terms – for example a published license key or a circumvented license check – I may block the license. I will contact you by email first, except in cases of obvious misuse.

7. Warranty and liability

For purchased licenses, your statutory rights and the rules in the terms and conditions apply. Please use the trial period to test the software on your computer and in your DAW, and back up your projects regularly – as with any software.

8. Data

The software connects to the shop only to activate, check and sign out (data as described in no. 3). It sends neither audio nor usage statistics. You send a problem report from Proberaum yourself via your email program. More in the privacy policy.

9. Trademarks

VST is a trademark of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH, registered in Europe and other countries. Audio Units, Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. Windows is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.

ASIO compatible

Proberaum for Windows is ASIO® compatible. ASIO is a registered trademark of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH.

10. Final provisions

  • If I change these terms, the change applies only to later purchases. Your purchase is governed by the version you confirmed when ordering.
  • German law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory consumer protection of your country of residence.
  • These terms are available in German and English. The German version is authoritative.
